What this website is, what it is not, and the one thing we would rather you took away from it: a detection system is an addition to the safety measures on your site, never a replacement for them.
1. This website is information, not an offer
Everything published on bayesstudio.com is provided for general information about Bayes Studio Inc. and what we build. It is not a quotation, a proposal, a contract, or an offer capable of acceptance. Nothing here creates an obligation on either of us.
What we agree to supply, and on what terms, is set out in a written agreement signed by both parties. Where anything on this site conflicts with that agreement, the agreement governs.
2. Product descriptions and figures
Specifications, capabilities, performance figures, coverage ranges, endurance, detection rates and configuration options described on this site are indicative. They describe what our systems have done under particular conditions, or what a configuration is designed to do, and they are not a warranty of what any system will do on your site.
Real performance depends on things we do not control: terrain, weather, vegetation, distance, lighting, camera and sensor quality, mounting, power, network coverage, and how the system is configured and maintained. Ask us for figures measured in conditions like yours, and we will give you those instead of these.
We develop these products continuously. Features, specifications and availability may change without notice, and images, renders and diagrams are illustrative rather than exact.
3. The limits of a detection system
This is the section to read twice.
No monitoring or detection system, ours or anyone else’s, detects every event, and none is a substitute for the safety systems, procedures, staffing and emergency services that protect a site. Detections can be missed, delayed, or raised where nothing is wrong. Sensors fail, power fails, networks fail, weather obscures, and models trained on the world as it was can be surprised by the world as it is.
Our systems are designed to give you earlier and better information than you would otherwise have, so that a person can decide sooner. They are decision support. They do not make the decision, they do not discharge any legal, regulatory, insurance or contractual obligation you carry, and they must not be relied on as the only means of detecting fire, hazard, intrusion or any other condition on which safety depends.
Keep your alarms, your inspections, your patrols, your reporting lines and your emergency plans. In an emergency, contact your local emergency services.
4. Not professional advice
Nothing on this site is engineering, safety, environmental, regulatory, legal, insurance or financial advice, and it should not be relied on as any of those. Decisions about how to protect your people, your land and your assets should be taken with advisers qualified in your jurisdiction and familiar with your site.
5. Research and forward-looking statements
Some of what we publish describes research in progress, work with academic and industry partners, or plans for products and capabilities that do not exist yet. Research findings are provisional and may be revised. Statements about what we intend or expect to do are not promises, and the future is under no obligation to agree with them.
6. Accuracy, and the site itself
We take reasonable care to keep this site accurate and current, but we do not warrant that it is complete, correct or up to date, and we may change or remove anything on it at any time. We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted or free of errors.
If something here is wrong, tell us at contact@bayesstudio.com. We would rather fix it than defend it.
7. Links to other sites
Where we link to a website we do not run (a partner, a funder, a publication, a video platform), we do so because we thought it was useful. We do not control what is on it, we are not responsible for it, and a link is not an endorsement of everything the other party says or does. Their terms and their privacy policy apply once you leave here.
8. Trademarks and content
Bayes Studio, Faunus, Helios and SENTRI AI, together with the logos and product names used on this site, are marks of Bayes Studio Inc. Other company, product and organization names belong to their respective owners and are used only to identify them; their appearance here does not imply any affiliation or endorsement either way.
The text, images, diagrams and code on this site are ours or are used with permission. You are welcome to quote from it with attribution and a link. Reproducing substantial parts of it as your own is not welcome.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Bayes Studio Inc. and its directors, officers, employees and contractors are not liable for any loss or damage (direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or for lost profits, lost data, business interruption, property damage or economic loss) arising from your use of this website or your reliance on anything published on it.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability, and nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. This section applies to the website; liability under a signed agreement is governed by that agreement.
10. Governing law
This disclaimer, and any dispute arising out of this website, are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada that apply in it. The courts of British Columbia have jurisdiction, and by using this site you agree to that.
Questions about any of this can go to contact@bayesstudio.com.
