Field Testing Early Wildfire Detection in Interior British Columbia

Continuing our engagement with communities across Interior British Columbia, the Bayes team recently had the privilege to visit the region to listen, learn, and explore how technology can support locally informed wildfire protection.

During the visit, we successfully demonstrated and tested our AI-powered early detection system under local field conditions. Our conversations reinforced the value of intelligent cameras and monitoring systems in remote and high-risk areas where people may not always be present.

Detecting smoke and other hazards earlier can provide valuable time to assess the situation, coordinate a response, and help prevent an incident from escalating out of control.

We were encouraged by the communities’ interest in adopting this technology for wildfire early detection and broader hazard monitoring. Their knowledge of the land, local risks, and operational realities is essential to developing solutions that are practical, sustainable, and responsive to community needs.
